Simba`s pride
I don't own any of the characters!
The sun rises over the famus Pride Lands, yellow and red lights chase away the darkness of night, and brighten the new day. All of the animals are gathering at the majestic and beautiful Pride Rock. What they were gathering for was the birth of the new heir to the crown, the cub of King Simba and his mate Queen Nala. The old Shamon baboon named Rafiki was calling them to come, he was to present the new cub to the kingdom. Soon the sun rises fully and Simba and Nala walk up the tip of Pride Rock to Rafiki and hand him their cub. He takes it and holds it high in the air. The animals cheer, and bow down for the new edition to the royal family.
The cub is a beautiful girl. Of corse the animals didn'tknow her name yet, the lions never anounced that, the animals had to find out for themselves. Soon the animals go about what they have to do for the day, and Rafiki returns the lively little cub back to Simba and Nala. Timon and Pumbaa, Simba's caretakers from when he was a ub were standing atop Pride Rock as well.
"Look at that Pumbaa, a chip off the old block, and ya gotta know whos gonna raise him..." Timon says directed at Pumbaa
"Aaa... his parents?" Pumbaa says confused
"Ok sure get technical, but gonna teach him the really important stuff, like how ta' belch" Timon gives out a large burp "Or how ta' dig for grubs? I'm tellin' ya buddy, it's gonna be like old times, just you me, and the little guy." He says pointing his had in the direction of the cub.
Simba, Nala, and Rafiki have all been listening to Timon and start laughing.
"It is a girl." Rafiki says through his laughs
"Girl." Timon corrects himself.
"GIRL!" Timon and Pumbaa say together looking at each other in shock. They both faint.
ooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Over behind all of the animals in the Pride Lands, a pre-teen lion and a lioness cub sit and watched the ceremony. The girl is in a tree, while the lion is playing with a cricket.
"Nuka come on! We have to get back to Mother!" The little cub yells at the pre-teen as she jumps down from the tree, as she hits the ground, it scares the cricket away.
"Aww Vitani, come on look what you did!" The lion complains
"You'll get over it, there are plenty of discusting little bugs for you to play with at home, now come on, we have to tell Mother!" Vitani yells as she takes off, in the direction of the Outlands, Nuka right at her heels.
They cross the river and race to find their Mother, both wanting to be the first to tell her the news.
An insect lands on the ground; immediately, Kovu appears, pouncing. KOVU: Rrrah! Kovu opens his paws to reveal the insect, buzzing; he smiles and opens his paws, releasing it to fly away.
"Kovu!" Zira yells, she was supervising, she grabs the bug from the air and squishes it hard on the ground "Don't let it go. What's the matter with you?"
"But Mother! He wasn't hurting anyone-- "
"There is no room for weakness here, my son. Remember... Scar took you in and accepted you as his own son." She says to Kovu as she draws him into her, Kovu is doubtful.
"But he wasn't my father."
"No... but he chose you to become the next King. When you rule, we shall no longer be forced to live in these dry, barren, disgusting, pathetic, termite-infested Outlands!" Zira is swatting at the ground, railing against fate. Kovu looks down, in quiet agreement. Suddenly, Nuka and Vitani come bounding in, fighting to be the first back with the news.
"Mother! Mother! Mother! They both start yelling over one-another fighting to get a word in.
"We were there-- in the Pride Lands. We saw the whole thing!" Nuka says excitedly
"At Pride Rock. We saw everything!" Vitani says from under Nuka
"We saw Simba's cub!" They say together
"What? Vitani-- what did you see?" Zira says directing her attention to Vitani
"Simba's new cub is a girl!" Vitani says proud that Mother asked her, Nuka gives her a jelouse angry look.
"A girl! " Zira laughs, "Scar, my beloved... did you hear that? This couldn't be more perfect."
"Who's she talking to?" Nuka asks Vitani
"Ssshhh. Scar." Vitani says not even looking at him.
Nuka gasps "Where? Where?"
"Scar's dead... genius." Vitani says through her already sharp teeth
"Yes! Because of Simba... if not for him, Scar would still be King. And I, Zira-- his loving, devoted Queen!"
"You know, speaking of kings... I was thinking, since I am the oldest... maybe I should be King! Huh?" Nuka says trying to look bigger and feirce
"Uh? Don't be a fool, Nuka." Zira almost laughs
"Heh heh... just a thought." Nuka says as he rolls over subserviently on his back.
"Kovu is the chosen one. We must fulfill Scar's dying wish, and train Kovu to become King." Zira says looking at Kovu proudly.
"Oh... yeah... oh, yeah. I can do that!" Nuka says but no one responds
Zira climbs up on a rock point to gaze out over the land. The others follow.
"Look... at the Pride Lands, my pets. So green... so inviting. That is our home... that is where we belong. And soon, my beloved Scar... we shall reclaim your kingdom." Zira says staring off into the Pride Lands, a smirk appearing on her face.
Vitani too smirks, she would fight hard to live in such a place. She had once, but barely remebers. All she could remember was another cub, with a brown toff or fur on his head, then one day he was gone, and the next they had to live here.
Kovu sat by Vitani, they were brother and sister... well half brother and sister... but best friends 'till the end. Kovu was happy to have her with him, she was older, but by a couple months. Sometimes Kovu wondered why Vitani wasn't to be the queen, she was Scar's daughter, tough and feirce, why was it him that had to be King? Or Nuka, he was the oldest, and also Scar's son, if Mother had given him a real chance from the start, maybe he wouldn't be like he is now, desperatly trying to get Mother's affection.
Some other lionesses that lived with them in the outlands had listened to the conversation, and went to tell the others about Simba's cub.
"Vitani and Nuka just returned!" Ashuka anounces to the lionesses that were gathered just outside the termite mounds. They all give their attention to her.
"And..." One lioness asks
"Simba's new cub is a girl." All of the lionesses look at each other happily, Zira would be in a better mood now.
"Can we play with her?" Ashuka's cub, Dotty, asks with wide eyes.
"No Dotty, they live all the way in the Pride Lands."
"Oh..." Dotty, along with her twin sister spotty, is younger than Nuka, but older than Vitani. The two sisters both have a line of dots under their eyes. Dotty's are on her right, and Spotty's are on her left. They play with Vitani usualy, when she wasn't with Kovu.
The capture of the killer.
Joey laughed as he looked at Alice's limp body laying on the operating table, tied down so she couldn't get away. He almost felt sorry for her. If only she didn't hook up with another guy, she might have not be in the position she was in now,
"Joey, Please don't hurt me, let me go! I promise... I wont tell anyone your the killer" Alice pleaded while looking around the storage unit Joey held her in. She saw a sketch of Jay, and a photo beside it. She wanted to cry. Jay had been her best friend. Beside her another young woman who she had never met. It must have been Claire, Yvonne's collegue. She looked like an admirable youthful woman. She wished she could of had the chance to meet her before her gruesome death,
"Piper I'm not going to hurt you, how can I trust you not to go running to Lara Wade?" Joey questioned while slowly walking around Alice. He knew she'd run to Lara and report that he was the Ferndale strangler. He couldn't afford to be locked up yet, he wanted to become a doctor, he wanted to prove to the rest of them he had it in him. He studied Alice, he didn't really want to kill her. She was his one of his close friends, probably the only one left. All he had to hear was Alice promise she wouldn't go to Lara Wade and he'd let her go,
"I swear to god Joey, I wont go to her if you let me go. Please!! I don't want to die and you don't want to kill your bestfriend Joey" Alice pleaded. She could see she was getting through to him. She wouldn't break her promise. She'd tell Craig she stayed at a mate's overnight, she'd say the same to Lara and she'd get everyone off Joey's back.
"If you go running to her, you'll be dead, understand? And your right I don't want to murder my bestfriend, I love you Alice, I just wish you weren't with Craig Valentine, we would make a great couple!" replied Joey, smoothing Alice's hair. He knew she had a crush on him, he could tell. She could probably change him to, not that he'd tell her that,
"I love you too Joey, but I'm with Craig you know that, though he's a boring man! Can you untie me now please?" asked Alice, she wouldn't try and run, she wanted to sit there with Joey for a while, see what made him become a killer. She knew he wouldn't hurt her now.
"Promise not to run if i do? How can you stand being with Craig, Alice?" Asked Joey, untying Alice, she wouldn't run yet, the doors were locked anyways and he was the only one with the keys to them,"Promise Joey I wont try and do a runner, I want to stay here and chat with you, I've been so hard on you lately at work and I'm sorry about that. So what made you want to be a killer?" Alice asked straight out hoping for an answer. They'd known each other for two years and if he was going to open up to anyone it would be her.
"Its okay Alice, I know I've been grumpy with my Patients and that has to change. I hate promiscuous girls. Girls who go after other men when they're in a relationship, I'm doing everyone a favour, getting rid of them. Saving others from being brokenhearted when they find out there girlfriend is with another man" replied Joey. He knew it was the wrong thing to do now and he wanted to change. Maybe he should go and talk with Lara, tell her that he wanted to change. He didn't enjoy murdering young woman. He reconized how much he loathed it while confessing to Alice. He just didn't like the sound of going to Jail. Going to a Psych ward maybe, but not Jail.
"Oh Joey, we all thought you were a sweet innocent guy, but you turned out to be a murderer, do you want to change?" Asked Alice, she felt sorry for the guy. He must of had a bad childhood to have done something like this. She could tell Joey didn't want to be a monster, he wanted to go back to the innocent sweet Joey. Although changing wasn't going to be easy. He needed help to go back to the kind-hearted lovable Joey that he was known as.
"I know Alice and I am a sweet innocent man when I'm not this, I want to go back to that. I'm going to talk to Lara and confess to her that I am the killer and why I did it. I just don't want to go to jail, I don't want to die in there Alice, Please, please help me" Joey cried sympathetically. He wasn't one to cry openly, but he wanted to change. He was determined to escape the monster inside of him.
"Well for starters I think you should get rid of this storage unit, you don't want her to find it. I'll help you clear it out, would you like me to come and see Lara with you?" asked Alice. She wanted to help him help himself. She'd was willing to do anything to get the old Joey back. She didn't want Joey to go to Jail either, that's not a place for someone like Joey, even if he did murder innocent young women."You'd do that?" Joey asked. "I mean come with me to talk to Lara?" Alice was being very nice to him, even though he was going to kill her. He regretted even thinking of murdering her, he was glad she made him change his mind,
"Of course I would, Joey your my friend and I'm going to make sure you don't go to Jail!!" said Alice getting up off the floor, starting to rip the pictures off the wall, she didn't like seeing Joey like this, she looked at the Pictures before she threw them in the bin beside her, he was a extremely good drawer. Maybe he could make a living out of his art work.
"Thanks Alice, I'm sorry for attempting to murder you. I really am" replied Joey. Getting up to help Alice clean out the storage unit. He didn't want Lara finding any evidence. He was ashamed of himself for renting the storage unit out to do his killings in.
"Hey its ok Joey, you weren't yourself, you weren't thinking properly I forgive you babe. Now let's go and find that Detective and get it over with!" said Alice putting her arm around Joey as they left the storage unit without looking back once.
Joey walked into Lara Wades office in the hospital, Alice following behind, he felt nervous, he couldn't believe he was doing this, but it was for his own good he did it. He made a mental note in his head to take Alice out afterwards to thank her for helping him.
"Detective Wade, Can I have a word with you. It... Its about the serial killer" said Joey, nervously, biting his nails, he didn't know how to start, he couldn't look her dead in the eye,"What is it Joey?" asked Lara, focusing on Joeys expression, he looked quite scared, maybe he had a run in with the killer, or he was the killer,
"Its me, I'm the killer, Alice was going to be my next victim but I changed my mind, I want to change who I am, I wanna be the charming Joey again" Said Joey. That was the hardest thing he had done in his life, telling Lara he was the killer. He hoped she would have understood, hoped she didn't go mental at him, he'd done the right thing. Did he?
"I'm glad you came to me Joey, instead of killing Alice. Can you tell me what made you let Alice go?" Lara asked still shocked by his confession.
"She talked to me, told me she was going to help me, it made me realize I didn't want to be that man anymore. I know it was absolutely the wrong thing to do, murdering all of those innocent women and I'm sorry I really am. I mean it." Joey said with tears forming in his eyes. He didn't want to cry infront of Lara, she'd probably laugh at him,
"Good work Alice, Joey you know you'll probably go to Jail, but I can get your sentence reduced and you can spend it in a Psych ward. Jail isn't a place for a guy like you" replied Lara, she almost felt sorry for him, he needed all the help he could get,
"Please don't send me to Jail, I wouldn't last two seconds in there. Please! Anywhere but Jail. I know I've done wrong but I want to change now. I really do, or I wouldn't of admitted it" cried Joey, the thought of going to jail made him want to run screaming out of the hospital, even though he did deserve it,"You did the right thing coming to me Joey, I'm going to help you, you wont go to jail, I'll get you a good Lawyer And I'm sure Alice will help you in court and I'll do everything I can!" said Lara, writing in her note book, she needed to do an official interview with Joey, but that could wait, Joey needed to calm down, it must of been hard for him to give himself up like that,
"I know I did, I'm glad Alice managed to talk me into it, will I be locked up tonight?" asked Joey, he hoped he wasn't he owed Alice big time for helping him,"No you can go home for the night, but I'll need you to come back tomorrow, I need to interview you" replied Lara, closing her note book and standing up as Joey moved to the door with Alice,"Thanks Lara, I really thought you were going to have a go at me." said Joey, still shaking from when he first walked in,
"I would of if you hadn't turned yourself in, you have a good night and I'll see you tomorrow" replied Lara, watching Joey walk out of the hospital.
Yukon – My understanding of the significance of Yukon is that it is the westernmost and smallest of Canada’s three territories and also very sparsely populated, the writer of the film was trying to create a sense of feeling for the Yukon Hotel as the frontier colony for all kinds of adventures hungry seekers to indulge in the various desires.
Hundertwasser – This is what I found on Wiki about Hundertwasser:
“The Austrian Artist Friedensreich Regentag Dunkelbunt Hundertwasser (born Friedrich Stowasser, December 15, 1928 – February 19, 2000) was an Austrian painter, architect and sculptor. By the end of the 20th century, he was arguably the best-known contemporary Austrian artist, though he was always controversial.
Hundertwasser's original, unruly, sometimes shocking artistic vision expressed itself in pictorial art, environmentalism, philosophy, and design of facades, postage stamps, flags, and clothing (among other areas). The common themes in his work are a rejection of the straight line, bright colours, organic forms, a reconciliation of humans with nature, and a strong individualism. He remains sui generis, although his architectural work is comparable to Antoni Gaudà in its biomorphic forms and use of tile. He was inspired by the works of Egon Schiele from an early date, and his style was often compared to that of Gustav Klimt. He was fascinated with spirals, and called straight lines "the devil's tools". He called his theory of art "transautomatism", based on Surrealist automatism, but focusing on the experience of the viewer, rather than the artist.”
Although Hundertwasser first achieved notoriety for his boldly-coloured paintings, he is more widely renowned today for his revolutionary architectural designs, which incorporate natural features of the landscape, and use of irregular forms in his building design. Hundertwasserhaus, a low-income apartment block in Vienna, features undulating floors ("an uneven floor is a melody to the feet"), a roof covered with earth and grass, and large trees growing from inside the rooms, with limbs extending from windows. He took no payment for the design of Hundertwasserhaus, declaring that it was worth it, to "prevent something ugly from going up in its place".
He felt that standard architecture could not be called art, and declared that the design of any building should be influenced by the aesthetics of its eventual tenants. Hundertwasser was also known for his performance art, in which he would, for instance, appear in public in the nude promoting an ecologically friendly flush-less toilet.”
I think the writer of the film is trying to create an “original, unruly, sometimes shocking” set for this movie by naming the street ‘Hunterwasser St.’ referring to the architect, Hunterwasser’s many unusual creations. See picture below:
from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedensreich_Hundertwasser
Another underlying interpretation of the street name could be considered as the writer is drawing a picture for the viewers in regards to the state of the society in the film. It was chaotic, conditions of life were extremely bad and the society was plagued with poverty, violence, diseases and pollution. It was the complete opposite of a utopia in another word, the state of the society could be viewed as a dystopia.
‘Miss Salome and the Snake’ – The reference that I gathered about ‘Miss Salome’. Salome, in Christian traditions, is the icon of dangerous female seductiveness. Salome pleased King Herod on his birthday by performing a dance before him and his lords, high captains and chief estates of Galilee. King Herod was so impressed by Salome’s dance and promised her with an oath to give her whatever she would ask of him. As she was instructed by her mother, Herodias, Salome asked King Herod to give her in a dish the head of John the Baptist. Although King Herod was reluctant to do so but because of his oat to Salome, he sent an executioner and beheaded John in prison. In the end, the head of John the Baptist was brought to Salome in a dish as she asked of King Herod. The film writer established a ‘Femme Fatale’ role for Zhora as drawing reference on Salome.
The Kiss – It represents ‘The kiss of Judas’ or in modern term, ‘The kiss of Death’. According to the New Testament, Judas pointed out Jesus to the people he led to arrest him by means of a kiss which eventually led to the death of Jesus.

Bradbury building – Given the clue by Dr Paul Mountfort, Something Wicked this way Comes, the significance of the Bradbury building is referring to the novel by author, Ray Bradbury. The novel “is about two thirteen-year-old boys, Jim Nightshade and William Halloway, who have a harrowing experience with a nightmarish carnival that comes to their Midwestern town one October. The carnival's leader is the mysterious "Mr. Dark" who bears a tattoo for each person who, lured by the offer to live out their secret fantasies, has become bound in service to the carnival. Mr. Dark's malevolent presence is countered by that of Will's father, Charles Halloway, who harbors his own secret desire to regain his youth.
The carnival's main allure to its participants is its ability to change age easily against natural causes. Jim wants to become an adult by riding the carousel forward, and Charles Halloway initially considers riding the carousel backwards. Even Will is somewhat tempted by the offer for a free trip to adulthood.
Charles, however, quickly sees that a ride on the carousel can have unforeseen circumstances, because changing age instantly would not change the mind. "If I made you twenty-five tomorrow, Jim, your thoughts would still be boy thoughts, and it'd show! Or if they turned me into a boy of ten this instant, my brain would still be fifty and that boy would act funnier and older and weirder than any boy ever."[6]
Because of this, a person who rode the carousel would be reformed only physically, with the same sins and emotions contained inside. Moreover, his new physical form, created unnaturally, would alienate him from his family and peers, leaving him with nowhere to turn to except for the carnival.
Charles best personifies this theme; while he is middle-aged in body, he is still youthful in mind and spirit. At first, he sees the two conflicting personas within him as irreconcilable and longs to be physically young too, but his active participation in toppling the carnival proves to him that mental fitness and perception of one's age is more important than physical health.
Ironically, Will and Jim can be said to have aged prematurely in the novel; the horrors of the carnival force them to grow up fast to be able to deal with its tricks on a knowledgeable level. Furthermore, Will and Jim do take a brief ride on the carousel before Will pulls Jim off, and they are never shown reversing this process before Charles destroys its machinations. Thus, it can be stated that they in fact grow up slightly. In this case, though, Will and Jim have also matured emotionally too, having had their first encounter with evil. This enables them to grow more proportionally in both physical and emotional status” (Wikipedia, 2008).
The character, Sebastian, in the film Blade Runner suffers from a rare growth disorder; his physical appearance looks much older than his actual age. With what I read from the above article, the film writer intends to illustrate Sebastian’s desire to turn back the time on aging due to his illness by cleverly using the author’s name, Bradbury, as the name of the building.
